SUMMARY:W3YR - Ted Wieworka - Celebration of Life
DESCRIPTION:Celebration of Life\nTheodore “Ted (W3YR)” John Wieworka of Forest Hill passed away on August 6\, 2023 at home surrounded by family after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Ted was born on September 14\, 1955 in Mineola\, New York.\nHe was a civil servant for the US Army at APG for 27 years\, although some family members still are not quite sure what he did there\, they know it was important and had to do with evaluating the safety of projects. Ted was a dedicated Amateur Radio Operator\, having been involved with the hobby for his entire life. He was a leader in Harford County ARES – RACES\, a member of NEMARC\, and an avid morse code contester. Over the years\, he collected many hobbies\, from remote controlled airplanes\, fixing automobiles\, forging knives\, to picking up sticks. Ted\, and family\, were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Bel Air Camping club for over 25 years; these trips were the setting for many adventures\, late night campfires\, and fellowship. Since retirement\, he and Debbie spent several weeks RVing during the winter months. He was known for wearing his heart on his sleeve and was always willing to help and be a mentor. He forged such strong friendships with his co-workers that they regularly meet for walking club and lunch.  He still enjoyed bike riding and continued to ride with former coworkers and completed a few 100 mile charity rides.  Between his HAM radio\, hiking\, walking\, biking\, camping\, and knife forging\, he lived a fun and active retirement.   \n  \nTed is survived by his wife of 43 years\, Debbie; his children Dan\, Thomas (Joanne)\,and Jenn; and his grandchildren AJ and Izzy. Ted was preceded in death by his parents\, Toddy and Mildred Wieworka and his sister\, Carol Althoff. Family and friends are invited to honor Ted at a Celebration of Life to be held on Saturday\, August 19th with open time to visit together from 1:00-4:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church of Bel Air including a short service at 2:00pm; located at 224 N Main St\, Bel Air\, MD 21014. In lieu of flowers\, the family suggests donations be made to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.
